Our story

Built around what dancers remember.

C3 grew out of what founder Julie Labate loved most about growing up in dance.

The parts that stayed with her were the teams, competitions, performances, big opportunities and the friendships that came with them.

That became the idea behind C3.

Since our first season, we’ve looked for ways to give dancers things to get excited about - from major local stages, halftime shows and community events to competitions, master classes, music videos and original productions.

The performance is what people see, but so much happens on the way there: the anticipation, the friendships, the work, the moment something finally clicks and the pride of doing it together.

That is where Commitment, Confidence and Community come to life.

Today, C3 is a place for kids and adults to move, train, perform and be part of a strong dance community.

The C3 Team

Julie Labate, Founder & Head Coach

Julie Labate

Founder & Head Coach

Grew up competing in hip hop and cheer in Miami, flew for Top Gun All-Stars, and led VXN adult fitness in NYC before founding C3 to give Saratoga dancers a place to grow.

Julie grew up in the competitive world of hip hop dance and cheerleading in Miami, cheering from age 5 and discovering hip hop at 9 through Hip Hop Kidz - performing at Super Bowl XXXIV, NFL halftime shows, and large-scale events across South Florida. From ages 12 to 17 she was a point flyer for the nationally recognized Top Gun All-Stars. At the University of Florida she competed on the cheer team and captained her sorority’s cheer and dance squads, and after graduating with honors in accounting she worked as a CPA in Miami while continuing to train with Top Gun’s Open Hip Hop team, which placed 3rd at the 2012 Dance Worlds. In 2013 she moved to NYC and spent six years with the VXN Workout - leading weekly classes, serving as a Master Trainer and NYC Manager, certifying instructors across the Northeast, and appearing twice on NBC’s Today Show. Across every stage of her life, dance gave Julie something to work toward, places to perform and people she loved doing it with. She founded C3 to create more of those opportunities in Saratoga Springs. Today, Julie leads C3’s artistic vision, performance program, adult Dance Fit community and special projects while developing the coaching team around her.

Danielle began training in ballet, tap, and jazz at age 3, and dance has given her lifelong friends, a sense of belonging, and a genuine love for movement. She studied international business and marketing at Elmira College, where she joined the Danceline team, became an officer, and choreographed hip hop routines performed at basketball halftime shows and community events. After graduating she backpacked through 17 countries across Europe and Southeast Asia, then landed a digital marketing internship in Bali that turned into a three-year stay. Back in Saratoga, she discovered Julie’s Dance Fit classes - the highlight of her week and a growing dance community - and was inspired by Julie’s focus on committing fully to the moment. Today, Danielle brings that same love of dance to her coaching at C3, leading with warmth, consistency and a strong eye for performance.

Coach Josh, Breaking Coach

Coach Josh

Breaking Coach

Known as Bboy HangThyme, Josh has trained, taught and performed in breaking since childhood. He brings authentic foundations, creativity and the "each one teach one" philosophy to C3.

Josh Meliski, aka Bboy HangThyme, began breaking at age 11 in Saratoga Springs. Despite formal training in modern dance and ballet, he was always more interested in spinning on his head than pointing his toes - spending hours perfecting backflip 720s on his sister’s trampoline and learning headspins in the basement. By the time he graduated high school in 2009, his crew was notorious for winning talent shows. In college he continued teaching, training, and performing breakin’ in Colorado Springs, where he learned the importance of community in art and embraced "each one teach one" - the idea that we can always learn something from those around us. At C3, Josh gives dancers an authentic introduction to breaking foundations, creativity and physical expression. His program offers a space to explore, challenge themselves and develop their own style.
